Bio:

Scott Colky is a 1977 graduate of Loyola’s School of Law. Scott began trying criminal cases, including serious felonies, in 1977. Since 1991, Scott has devoted his practice to Family Law. He has also been licensed to practice law in Montana since 1994. Scott is committed to being responsive to his client’s needs and feelings during a difficult time. Clients benefit from his extensive trial experience in both family and criminal cases. He is frequently appointed to represent children in Cook County and has lectured at training programs for children’s advocates. Scott was the Chairman of the Illinois State Bar Association’s Family Law Section Council for 2006-2007, a member of the Illinois State Bar Association’s Standing Committee on Supreme Court Rules, and is currently the President Elect of the Illinois Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. He has been voted by his peers as both a Leading Lawyer in Family Law and a Super Lawyer. Scott has been retained as an expert witness to testify regarding the validity of Illinois pre-nuptial agreements. He has written and lectured extensively on relevant family law issues. Scott is one of three co-authors of the Illinois Surrogacy Act and has authored and testified in support of Family Law legislation between the years of 1995 and 2007. Gitlin on Divorce recently published one of Scott’s columns regarding children’s representatives. In December 2002, Scott wrote a controversial article challenging the constitutionality of Illinois’ statute regarding children’s representatives. In the case of In re the Marriage of Bates, the Illinois Supreme Court agreed with the position Scott took in his article. A partial list of Scott’s articles and presentations in Illinois and other states is available on Colky & Kirsh, Ltd’s website.
