Bio:
Gunnar J. Gitlin is the principal of the Gitlin Law Firm, P.C. in Woodstock, Illinois, a firm exclusively devoted to family law. He has lectured nationally and throughout Illinois for organizations including Law Education Institute in Colorado, the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education, the AAML (National and Illinois), the American Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, the Illinois Attorneys General, the DuPage County, Kane County, Northwest Suburban, McHenry County and Winnebago County Bar Associations. He has given presentations for the DePaul University Graduate School of Taxation, and Northern Illinois Law Review Symposium. Mr Gitlin’s publications include being the author of three chapters in IICLE handbooks including their business valuation chapter (with Bruce Richman), the Chapter on the Supreme Court Rules in Custody cases (with Attorney Paulette Gray of his office) and the chapter on Settlement of Custody Cases. He has had numerous articles published in the Illinois Bar Journal. Mr. Gitlin is listed in Best Lawyers in America since 2007. He is also listed as an Illinois Leading Lawyer and an Illinois Super Lawyer in the area of family law. Gunnar has received the A-V peer review designation through Martindale-Hubbell. As a fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, Attorney Gitlin is a Vice President of the Board of Directors and the co-chairman of their continuing legal education committee for the Illinois Chapter. He is a past member of their Board of Directors. In 2007, Attorney Gitlin was awarded the Michael S. Cohen award "for continuing commitment and contribution to the professional education of matrimonial lawyers." In 2007, Attorney Gitlin was also given the President's Special Recognition Award by the AAML. Gunnar is a member of the Illinois Appellate Lawyers Association, the Collaborative Law Institute of Illinois and the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals.
