Bio:
Ms. Schmidt, a partner at Brown, Hay & Stephens, has an extensive family law and litigation practice, specializing in complex litigation including high income property divisions, business valuations, and custody matters involving expert testimony. Ms. Schmidt obtained a BS in Accounting, magna cum laude, in 1987 and her juris doctor with honors from the University of Tulsa in 1990. A member of the Illinois State Bar Association and the American Bar Association, she is past president of the Sangamon County Bar Association. She is a certified child's representative and an approved mediator in the Seventh Judicial Circuit. She is Fellow in the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and has been selected as a Leading Lawyer and as one of the Top 100 Female Lawyers ( Consumer) by Leading Lawyer's Network.
