Bio:
Benedict Schwarz, II is principal in the Law Offices of Benedict Schwarz, II in West Dundee. The firm concentrates in the practice of matrimonial and family law matters. In 1992, he was appointed by the Illinois Supreme Court as a Commissioner of the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission, and in 2001, he was appointed Chairperson of the Commission, a position which he continues to hold. The Kane County practitioner was admitted to practice law in 1971 after graduating from the John Marshall Law School in Chicago. He earlier attended the University of Wisconsin in Madison receiving a Bachelors Degree in Social Psychology. He has been a member, former officer, and former director of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers since 1977. He chaired the Kane County State's Attorney Task Force on Domestic Violence and the Kane County Batterer's Task Force. He was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Lawyers Assistance program (L.A.P.). While active with the Illinois State Bar Association Family Law Section Council and Domestic Violence Task Force, he assisted in the re-write of the Illinois Domestic Violence Act and drafted revisions for the Illinois Marriage and Dissolution Act. Mr. Schwarz is a trained divorce mediator and has taught many divorce mediation training and conflict resolution seminars and has co-authored chapters on the subject in Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education publications.
